Cultural Mediation and Guided Tours

Cultural Mediation and Guided Tours

For the first time, the European Cultural Centre organises continued cultural mediation and interactive guided tours in its 4 palaces. Our cultural mediators are at your service to answer all your questions about  each project. As part of the 15thInternational Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, the Collateral Event “Time Space Existence” at Palazzo Bembo, Palazzo Mora and Palazzo Rossini presents architects from 6 continents, brought together in an extraordinary combination. The participants present their models, concepts, research results, dreams, hopes and ideas.

From the 4th of July to the 27th of November 2016, you can book a free guided tour with one of our cultural mediators in 8 different languages (Italian, English, French, Spanish, Greek, Serbian, Russian and Hindu).

For Adults and teenagers (groups of maximum 30 persons):

In Palazzo Mora and Palazzo Bembo, two types of tours are possible. You can choose between:

Tour A: The Architect’s Mark
This guided tour explores the projects that followed the themes of the Venice Architecture Biennale 2016, analysing the tangible and intangible marks between past and future, tradition and modernity, between issues and progress, technology and art.

Tour B: Architecture: Vitae Capsa
This guided tour explores the projects that followed the European Cultural Centre’s theme, “Time Space Existence”, analysing the essence of architecture, of what is for us “the box of life” (Vitae Capsa), highlighting the importance of both the box and its contents.

In Palazzo Rossini, gmp - Architekten von Gerkan, Marg und Partner presents a project of the Academy for Architectural Culture. The design of our built environment is becoming more global, more diverse and more sophisticated in every dimension – how will tomorrow's architects be able to cope responsibly with this complexity? In Palazzo Rossini, gmp presents its initiative with several themes which our mediators are glad to explain to you and discuss with you.

In Palazzo Michiel, during the same period of the Venice Architecture Biennale 2016, the European Cultural Centre presents for the first time its exhibition "VENICE DESIGN 2016". Through centuries, designers questioned themselves about what is the difference between craftsmanship, arts and design. This guided tour, as addition to the design exhibition, tries to answer this question and gives us some thoughts to discuss the role of design in our society.

Our mediators are here to guide you and to start some discussions with you.

For elementary schools and families:

Tour: The Great Travel of Peter Free
In both Palazzo Mora and Bembo The European Cultural Centre is organising a story telling based on the architect’s dreams and ideas. In this guided visit between reality and magic, children will explore the importance of the architect’s figure in a funny and interactive way. They will discover the role of architecture in society, following Peter Free in his fantastic travel in research of the ideal city.

Activities: workshops
In Palazzo Rossini, children will discuss with the cultural mediator the role of the architect in our society, and which responsibilities can be given to him in the future. They will follow the whole process of an architectural project.

In Palazzo Michiel, after a quick visit, children will be invited to imagine their ideal interior design following the textures, colors and forms they liked best in the design exhibition.
